I tried this unit out last weekend. It started every time on the third pull. The lower decibal rating is great. I had to turn down my radio in my fifth wheel to listen to see if it was still running. It doesn't look like it is built to take too much abuse. Control center seems a little flimsy. I was careful plugging and unpluging my extension cord. Due to its light weight, I pinned it down by the handle and right front rubber foot while pulling on the recoil. Be gentle with it and it should last for years.
I purchased this to recharge my battery bank (5 batteries). I used the built in battery charger along with my 10 amp charger which I plugged into the unit. I run all of my electronics off an inverter, so I haven't tested any sensitive equipment on it yet.
Because it is a two stroke, you do have a more noticeable odor to the exhaust (like running a chain saw, but nowhere near as loud). If your power requirements do not require a large generator and you don't mind dealing with a 2 stroke engine, then this is (currently) the best priced, low decibal unit out there for the money.
JUST AN UPDATE: the unit started on 4 pulls multiple nights with the temperature in the teens. I got about 4 hours out of it (1 gallon of gas/oil mixture)before it ran out of fuel on a full load. This was adequate time to recharge my (5) batteries which were drawn down by my heater blower fan running every few minutes all night and most of the day. My $1700 Briggs "Power Now"7000 watt(propane)generator shows no sign of life in these temperatures.
