Sissy Bar with Luggage Rack for Honda 2004-2009 Shadow Aero VT750 Models Review

It looks good but looks can be deceiving. I guess before I start my tale of wow I should make two statements. 1) Once I finally got them installed they are sturdy. 2) I did not give the parent company a chance to fix the problem because I needed the back support for my wife right then. At 44MPG vs 17MPG one can understand why I was in a hurry to car pool. The first thing I noticed was the back support was loose. There are four allen screws to tighten it up if you can get it tight enough without buying shorter screws. Second, were the holes in the back rest where the pieces bolt to the mount and the bike needed to be re-tapped because you could not thread the screws through them and one had been tapped crooked by the factory. No quality check here. After re-tapping the screws threaded fine except the crooked one of course that was pure joy the whole time. I should have just drilled it out and nut and bolted it. The luggage rack attaches to these screws as well and then you put a nut on the screw to hold the luggage rack on. So, the back rest fits inside the mount that attaches to the bike and you have almost an inch of threads sticking out of the back rest after it is tight. Then the luggage rack fits inside the back rest and you use the nuts on the protruding screws to hold on the luggage rack. There are four screws in all and it was strong enough to hold a small ice chest on the luggage rack. The bike I put it on is a 06 Honda Shadow. Sometimes we get what we pay for.
